Research And Application On Visualization Technology For 3D WebGIS Based On GeoVRML

As the popularization and development of computers and network, GIS has been experiencing a new 3D Web era, and the application fields are more extensive. People's eagerness for visualization function of Web geographic information is stronger than ever. 3D visualization of WebGIS is the key technology of the development of the WebGIS. With Geographic Virtual Reality Modeling Language, it provides an available method to resolve the problem.First, this paper introduces GIS and WebGIS, the conception,characteristics and other information of visualization function of WebGIS. Then, Geographic Virtual Reality Modeling Language, as a key to the digital earth, is focused on. And deeply analyze the effect of GeoVRML in multi-user environment of Internet. With the introduction of some new technics such asJave, EAI, LOD, ROAM, the framework and methods are proposed to designa 3D WebGIS based on the GeoVRML. Also, the system is balance the speed of display and the quality of display, and some helpful attempts are applied to increase the quality of display and the speed of display.Finally, the paper expatiates this 3D visualization function of WebGIS system from the point of view of three aspects: speed of data transfers, speed of display and quality of display. These methods could be the reference for a practical system.
