Study On The International Competitiveness Of China's Trade In Services

Along with the rapid development of global economy, it has also shown new characteristics and trends in the development of trade in services, and the competitiveness of trade in services has increasingly become the important criteria to evaluate the competitiveness of a country as a whole. Today the economy of most developed countries is mainly driven by trade in services. Against such international background, the development of China's trade in services has also seen the momentum of accelerated increase while the amount of import and export in services has placed it into the front rank. However, at the same time, we should also be aware of the unreasonable structure, lack of high-tech elements among other deficiencies in the industry, which lead to the relatively weak competitiveness of trade in services in China. India, also as another developing country, having many backgrounds comparable with China, has made remarkable achievements in its development of trade in services which specially deserve our attention to study and learn. In regard to the comparable analysis of competitiveness of trade in services between China and India, Chinese scholars have already done some studies and made some achievements. This dissertation, based on the results gained by former scholars, made further in-depth study on the comparable analysis of competitiveness of trade in services between China and India. It has summarized the results and also deficiencies of the classic documents in areas of Industry International Competitiveness, especially International Competitiveness of Trade in Services as well as Comparable Analysis of Competitiveness of Trade in Services between China and India. In the dissertation, comparable analysis has been made on the aggregate amount and structures between the two countries, and also on the competitiveness both overall and of respectively segments by using certain indices. The innovation of this dissertation lies in the further revision of Diamond Model, laying the factors of innovation of technology and system at the centre of the model. Based on the revised model, analysis has been carried out on every factor affecting the competitiveness and suggestions of how to further improve the competitiveness of trade in services of China have been raised based on the analysis. In the finality, problems requiring further study have been discussed and the outlook of the trend in the future study has been made.
