| With the arrival of the service economy, trade in services is increasingly becoming the core areas of international economic competition. Whether trade in services is competitive, has become an important criteria to evaluate a country’s overall economic status. In recent years, although China’s trade in service showed a trend of rapid expansion on the scale, but it was also exposed a long-term trade deficit, irrational structure, low international competitiveness and other problems. Since the 1980s, Singapore began to vigorously promote the rapid development of service and trade in services, and it has gradually become one of the most developed countries in service trade. The development of Singapore’s trade in services has a lot of places worth for China to learn from. Through a comprehensive comparison between China’s and Singapore’s international competitiveness of service trade and its influencing factors, we can analysis the differences between the two countries in the development of trade in services and the underlying reasons, so as to provide useful revelations to promote the development of trade in services.In order to do this, this paper has done the following, work:Firstly, we will give an fully characterization of China’s and Singapore’s trade in services on the scale, growth rate and the structure, etc. Then, we will choose TC index and RCA index to compare the general and some industries’ competitiveness of trade in services between the two countries from the perspective of empirical analysis. Through the analysis in the above two parts, we can shows the differences on the competitiveness of trade in services between the two countries. And in the following core parts, on the one hand, we will give a specific qualitative analysis on the influencing factors of service trade’s international competitiveness based on diamond model. On the other hand, we can make regression models between the two countries, in order to compare quantitatively the differences of these factors’ impact. By the way of qualitative and quantitative methods, we want to explore furtherly the differences of service trade’s development between the two countries from the perspective of influencing factors. Finally, according to the research findings, we will make some recommendations to enhance the competitiveness of China’s trade in services. |
