Due to the massive competition in worldwide economy after the foundation of World Trade Organization, manufacturing industries need to develop new policies to settle down the problems. Decreasing the running cost without sacrificing the product quality seemed to be the two sides on a level. 6Sigma approach was proposed under this respect.6Sigma approach was first practiced in Motorola, and the results came out to be significant. Since then, many firms employed the same approach to reconstruct the manufacturing processes as well as improve the competition ability on quality control management. Through the DMAIC procedures in 6Sigma approach, an ceptable result can be obtained. This research applied the 6Sigma approach in the improvement of reducing the defect ratio during the coating process. The steps in the DMAIC procedure were drived to define, measure, analyze, improve and control the main factors which caused the defect. The result shows the cost caused by the defect products was reduced obviously and which was more than 66.73% as respected. The 6Sigma approach shall be successful if apply to other cases.
