With the wide used of application, the need of more stable and reliable software is booming. The quality of software becomes the focus of software develop enterprises. This thesis emphasize on software process improvement as one method of improving software quality. So how to make software process management and improvement ? Based on the theory of software defect data is the most important information source of process improvement, this paper will get through from defects management, try to analyse the defects data to provide the information for software process.The traditional style of defect management is find , modify and regress. It's the pattern of process dealing. How to analyse the useful information from defects, how to develop the defect management to more high level ? If the organization need more information about supervision of projects, it must do analyse, measure and dig out useful information from defect data.So this paper introduces the software measurement method into defect management process. Measure, analyse the defect data during the management process. We propose the method of software defect measurement, then propose the software defect measurement pattern based on six sigma. For six sigma emphasize the importance of measurement , it based on data collection and statistic analyse. We establish the analysis pattern of software defect measurement based on six sigma, and it uses the DMAIC method to operate defect measurement, finally used for software process improvement. We made the innovation of defect management style, bring the six sigma which used widely in manufacture into software develop organization.
