Preliminary Study On Major Function Oriented Zoning

The concept of forming the spatial pattern of four major function areas is an important innovation in the theory of promoting regional development in harmony. It has important significance for orderly development of national land. The compilation of major function oriented zoning (MFOZ hereafter) is a key step to carry out this strategy. Therefore, it is necessary to enhance the correlation studies of MFOZ.For a better understanding of the significance and objective, this dissertation generalizes the main problems in the process of regional development in our country and analyzes proposition background of MFOZ firstly. The next chapter expounds the proposing process, targets, main contents of MFOZ and furthermore analyzes the connotation of MFOZ including the related concepts, characteristics, functions, etc. The process of compilation, the guarantee measures as well as the changing measures are also discussed. In the fourth chapter this paper puts forward some enlightenments basing on the experiences of several foreign countries all of which have a good spatial order of national land. At last, taking Jilin province for example, this paper try to divide the land space into three conceptual areas in order to make the study more generalized and pertinent, basing on the special circumstance of the province. Then, the paper analyzed the carrying capacity of resource and Environment, current development density and potential of development of each conceptual area respectively,and put forward the orientation of major function of each conceptual area. Further some special issues in carrying out MFOZ of Jinlin province are discussed and some suggestions on compilation of MFOZ of Jinlin province are put forward.
