The company founded in 1958, is one of national first class multiple production enterprises consisting of steel-making, forging, non-ferrous and ferrous casting, mechanical machining, heat treatment and complete sets of equipment through continual progress more than four decades.In the process of the transition from planned economy to market economy, especially since 1990s, the company 's economic efficiency has suffered from worsen to worsen. Untill 1996, the company even couldn't afford to carry on daily operation. At the crucial moment, the company adopted a series of internal reform of the enterprise from time to time,emerging the promising enterprise in the industry by product structural adjustment. At present, it not only faces strong competition pressure from domestic and abroad, but also creates a unique and rare historical opportunity of developing fast to be outstanding in the same industry.Based on basic principle of strategic management, the paper comprhensively analyses the internal and external environment of Wuhan Heavy Industry Casting & Forging Company by adopting PEST analysis, Value Chain analysis, Product Portfolio analysis. On the basis of it, identifying strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats of the company. By using SWOT analysis, the paper not only proposes the development strategy and strategic goal, but also describes specific steps and measures of the strategic implementation and control.
