The present thesis is a systematical study of the taxonomy of the subfamily Cicadettinae(Hemiptera: Cicadidae) from China. The researches of the subfamily Cicadettinae arereviewed. Morphology, characteristics of classification in the application, and materials andmethods are introduced, and geographical distribution of the subfamily Cicadettinae fromChina is analyzed. In the taxonomic section,54species belonging to16genera of4tribes arereported, of which3new species,2new synonyms and4new combinations are included.Keys to all included taxa are given. Photographs of43male species and30female species arepresented, including both the male genitalia and the female terminalia. Indexes of scientificnames and Chinese names are provided.New species, new combinations and new synonyms are as follows:New species: Kosemia castaneous sp. n., Kosemia yanglingensis sp. n., Tettigettawenchuanensis sp. n.New combinations and new synonyms:Kosemia chinensis (Distant,1905), comb. n.(=Kosemia bifuscata (Liu,1940), syn. n.)Kosemia mogannia (Distant,1905), comb. n.(=Kosemia rubicosta (Chou&Lei,1997),syn. n.)Tettigetta chaharensis (Kato,1938), comb. n.Tettigetta shansiensis (Esaki&Ishihara,1950), comb. n.The type specimens of the new species are deposited in the Entomological Museum,Northwest A&F University, Yangling, Shaanxi, China (NWAFU).
