Experiment courses have been playing an important role in teaching and research of control subject, which is a key means to provide quality education. However, at present, how to achieve the integration of teaching and experiment in control education is still being discussed, and there are many shortcomings in the traditional control experimental system, such as the outdated mode, rough content, low efficiency and low utilization of resources. In addition, the traditional experimental system uses text-form programming language, which is very tedious and degrades the flexibility of system. On the contrary, graphical programming approach will greatly improve the efficiency of the development due to its simple, flexible and modular programming mode. Under the support of scientific and technological innovation of process industry integrated automation founded by "985 project", the paper implements the research of advanced control experimental system. The aim is to realize the share and comprehensive use of the software and hardware resources and provide hands on experience to students with an advanced system in signal detection, controller design and driving control. The main research works of this paper are listed as followings:1. The general structure of the control experimental system is designed based on LabVIEW and the servo control system of Quanser. The characters of system are modularity, reconfiguration, transplantation and expandability. It supports graphical, modular programming mode and network experiment. What's more, it is integrated with the operation and management of assistant teaching, local experiment and network experiment. The concept of modularity is proposed to design the control system for the easy realization of the expansion of the system and the reuse of the software. With friendly user interface, the visual management is achieved and the operation efficiency is enhanced.2. The hardware and software system are designed and developed. In terms of hardware system, the main work focuses on choosing the mode of controller and drive system and the type of data acquisition card, designing connection of the hardware system. After that, the connecting and debugging of the hardware system have been performed. With respect to software system, based on hierarchical and modular designing idea, the general architecture and functions of the software system are designed. Based on these designs, the interface modular library, control algorithm modular library, plant model modular library, landing interface, experiment management interface, and experiment operation interface are developed.3. Typical experimental design and experimental research are implemented on the above system. Firstly, abound experimentations are designed, including PV control, adaptive control, fuzzy control, pole placement, LQR control and sliding control. Secondly experimental control programs are established by means of the developed interface modular library and algorithm function library. Finally these experimental schemes are applied on the control experimental system. By these experiments, the high efficiency of the system, the accuracy of the designed control algorithms and the correctness of module encapsulation are validated.4. The LabVIEW remote publishing technology is investigated and the network control architecture based on Browser/Server is established. Through several experiments, the effectiveness of the network control is validated on the system.
