In order to make engineering students get excellent engineering training, it is important for the process control lab to construct a laboratory with practical engineering environment for students. Combine laboratory project with the characteristics of majors such as Automation, Measurement, Control Technology and Instrumentation. Using the water tank as the control object, this paper developed an remote process control experimental teaching system based on Lab VIEW.The mathematic model of three-tank water level control system is developed, and the parameters of the model are obtained with the least square method. An thoroughly analysis of the basic structure of the conventional Fuzzy controller is done, an dynamic look-up table is designed for the controller to overcome the drawback of big steady state error exist in conventional Fuzzy controller. Combining the advantages of conventional Fuzzy controller and PID, self-tuning Fuzzy PID and Fuzzy-PID soft-switch controllers are developed,an simulation is carried out using the LabVIEW/Simulation toolkit to test the controllers developed. By using the improved algorithm proposed in this paper, students can get a comprehensive understanding about how the PID parameters impact the control performance, by the way, the self-tuning time can be reduced.Several methods of remote control based on LabVIEW are investigated in the paper, focused on the distributed liquid level remote control system based on LabVIEW Web server and AppletVIEW toolkit, the two kinds of remote control method are compared. By Building a distributed control system of Virtual Instruments combined with NI CFP-2120, students can choose different remote control methods according to specific needs, the flexibility and openness of the system are improved.The remote control system based on LabVIEW not only includes simulation experiments, automatic control experiments and parameter identification experiments, but also provides students an experimental platform with various advanced control algorithms. Students can learn a lot through experimental teaching, including the construct of production process control systems, designing and debugging and parameter identification. Moreover, the system enhances the laboratory resource utilization efficiency significantly and the situation of the lack of laboratory hardware resources is also improved.
