With the rapid development of science and technology, the remote measurement and control technology is much more widely used in various fields. However, most of these systems are developed and designed according to specific requirements, which have poor versatility and scalability, long development cycle and high development costs. Making full use of the advantages of virtual instrument technology and high-performance hardware and software resources, the remote measurement and control system is designed and realized based on LabVIEW which has good performance, good versatility and high integration.Firstly, the development status of the remote measurement and control technology is described and several common functional requirements are summarized according to many applications such as the Antarctica Expedition Platform. The criteria of being modularized should be followed while designing hardware and software systems to ensure the versatility of the system. Then the overall design of the system is established and the functions and principles of all modules including field measurement and control module, the remote monitoring module and the indium communication module are described in detail.Secondly, the system platform is built. According to the design criteria, the hardware resources being modularized and structured are used to build hardware platform. According to the actual requirements, choose and customize the Linux operating system by the coarse-grained method of kernel, load the device driver of DM6420.Then, the design of software system is completed. The function of initialization module, the data acquisition module, the device control module, the file I/O module, the data processing module, the historical data query module, the alarm module and the communication module is designed and realized on the LabVIEW development platform in detail. According to the requirements of the Antarctica Expedition Platform, modules are integrated into the remote measurement and control system which has remote monitoring and field monitoring function.Finally, the functional test and the performance test of the remote measurement and control system based on LabVIEW are completed. The results show that the system can work reliably, which has high versatility and actual application value.
