With the development of high-technology, such as micro-electronics technology, computer technology and remote control technology, monitoring system has been applied to various areas increasingly and has great significance in protecting the safe production and convenient management. The vehicle data acquisition system is used to collecting, storing and anlysing the status of engineering machinery devices.The system can monitor the working status of the locomotive machine effectively.This paper reasearches GPS, GPRS, CAN bus technology. Based on the practical request and locale environment, it gives the whole design of vehicle data acquisition system on large railway maintenance machine.It designs a vehicle data acquisition system which uses ARM7 microprocessor andμC/OS-Ⅱembedded operating system. It has designed and developed all hardware circuit such as the data acquisition circuit based on CAN bus, the GPS data acquisition circuit and the GPRS wireless communication circuit and so on. Also, it has fulfilled the hardware and software of power management module.At last, this paper monitors and manages the storage batterys to enhance its operational reliability, increase its service life, and eliminate adverse effects from outside. The system uses CAN bus to collect working state parameters, and then it pre-process the collected data, At last, the data is sent to display terminal to real-time monitoring for working staff on the machine. At the same time, the system realizes the collection and process of GPS data, and gathers the CAN data and the GPS data which will be uploaded to the server for the long-distance monitoring. Using the GPRS wireless network, the vehicle data acquisition system realizes the two-way communication with the remote monitoring center. The vechicle data acquisition system uploads real-time work data, and makes the response to the instructions of remote monitoring center promptly.Thus this paper realizes the design of the vehicle data acquisition and supervisory system based on GPRS and embedded system.In addition, this system has designed and developed the software program of the data acquisition and processing module, the configuration of CAN module and GPRS module, so we can flexibility to increase or decrease the number of acquisition modules, change the module channel,and so on. The CAN module configuration increases the system's versatility and expansibility. At the end of the paper, the tests of the system's power source, the extraction of GPS data, GPRS communications as well as the integrated system are carried on. After experiments, the system runs normally and the response is rapid. So this system has realized anticipated functions.
