With the developement of city, city gas is one of important characters as public base facilities in the modern civilized city. Meanwhile, it is also important part in national energy construction. It is widely utilized as one of one-time consumption energy in many fields ,such as chemical raw material, industry fuel, commercial and civil fuel, automobile fuel, intensive supply heat and electric power generation and so on. The characters of city gas are distributed, collecting and distributing,networking, fully open. Now, the method for the all transform station monitor is adopted by manual record and step-by-step report in most of city gas deliver and piping network. In order to meet scheduling command in the production process, SCADA (Supervisory Control And Data Acquisition) needed to be reliable for the digital information city construction.SCADA system, which is data acquisition and monitor control system, is automatic system that based computer production process control and remote scheduling. It combined advantages not only PLC system on-site measurement function, but also DSC system information share and communication ability. SCADA system, which combined advanced computer technology and industry control technology, has strong on-site measurement and control function and powerful communication ability. It is easy to achieve remote measurement and control functions, such as the related parameters monitor and important valve control for the supply pipes. So SCADA system provides basic platform that achieved automatic data acquisition and remote control. It has been widely applied in electric power system, gas collection & transfer, and fossil oil chemical industry and so on. SCADA system may achieve in-site and real time data acquisition and monitor production process, also including providing necessary data for production, scheduling and management.For SCADA system good characters and modern city gas development, this paper developed SCADA system design. It has been emphasized researched SCADA system application in practical engineering. It is included the design of SCADA system in communication, the design in scheduling centre, the design remote monitor terminal station, the safety design for thunder and hard rain, the design of power supply and ground connection, and the choice of instrument. By using the technologies of configuration software, network, PLC, RTU and so on, improves the automatic degree of the natural gas pipe.Through these designs, it guaranteed the achievement and completeness for the system. It is also provided specific solution in practical engineering to test the correctness and feasibility. And it provided technology foundation and reference for the latter engineering work.
