The background of this article is the SCAD A upgrade and extension project of Beijing Gas Group Cooperation(BGGC). The upgrade and extension project is related with many different aspects and different level systems. Subject of the article is about the improvement of performance of DNP3.0based SCADA system’s data collection. The reason of choosing the subject is the data collection is the base of all uplevel systems, how many sub-stations can be supported in the system and how about the data collection performance is the key to the businese development of BGGC.The main job of the article includes problem detecting and analysis of current SCADA system, DNP3.0interface improvement of SCADA software platform, process analysis of gas pressure regulation station, RTU programming standarlization and setting up of SCADA system performance’s guideline via DOE. The final one is site implementation, including the SCADA software upgrade, communication system fine tune, ladder logic upgrade of all200sub-station’s RTU and switching of these RTUs from old SCADA to new SCADA system. The target is to have a fresh SCADA system and to have a SCADA system perfromance guideline. In this way, the customer/enduser can predict and monitor the system performance, which is the key of system extension and maintenance. The requirement of BGGC customer is the SCADA system can support their businese development till Y2020or even later.During the implementation, the focus is using advance theory to guide to proceed each activity, trying to improve the ability of using advance theory to solve problem. To be ready for dealing with more complex issues in future.When achieving problem detecting and analysis of current SCADA system, also the improvement of DNP3.0interface, the beginning is using six sigma tools (like SIPOC and ProcessMap) to get clear scope and focus, then using tools like protocol analyzer to find system problem, the next is further analysis upon the understanding of system’ s detail ProcessMap, DNP3protocol, RTU product information and communication system information. Then is using FMEA to find the priority to proceed the improvement.When doing the gas regulation station’s process analysis and RTU program standarlization, the1st is using OOAD methodology, the concept of class and object, to analysis equipments in the process,2nd is doing the standarlize of the RTU program, like define the address and behavior of object.When trying to get the guideline of SCAD A system performance, the key point is using six sigma methodology, using six sigma tools like MSE and DOE, doing analysis on MINITAB platform. About testbed building, the idea is combining the real hardware platform and software simulation.The chapter1of the article introduces the background of SCADA upgrade and extension project, highlight the importance of the article’s job in the overall project,shows the current level of SCADA project implementation and relationship with Six Sigma Methodology. Also it describes the scope of the job and its methodology.The chapter2describes how the six sigma tools, like SIPOC, PROCESSMAP, FMEA, DOE and QFD be used for this job.The chapter3gives introduction of SCADA system architecture and what problem has been detected in current system.The chapter4shows the main idea how to improve the DNP3interface and the CDMA/GPRS gateway.The chapter5,6give details about gas regulation station process analysis, RTU program design and codes.Chapter7mainly describes how the MSE, DOE are used to get the guideline of SCADA system performance. Also showns the analysis result of MINITAB.Chapter8is the summary. Inside gives the shortcome of the job and improvement direction. Till the submissionm of this article, the jobs covered here inside has provided active effect to the overall project’s implementation. The main target is achieved. The customer (BGGC) has full confidence on the final result of system upgrade and extension. The guideline of SCADA system performance provided in this article will be futher proved and improved after the whole gas regulation stations be put into supervision of the new SCADA system.
