With the increasing of applications of computer networks and the complexity of network continues to improve, network management systems have become the inevitable choice of more and more enterprises. A good network management system must first grasp the topology of entire managed network. It is the basis of performing hardware configuration, performance monitoring, and fault diagnosis to network equipments in an effective way. Thus the network topology has become an essential part of network management system. All the realizations of network topology graphs in the existing network management systems are not good enough. The disadvantages are the insipidity of interface, the complexity of operation, the lack of flexibility, the difficulty in integrating other functional models of network management system. And the realization of user-mapping function also takes a lot of time and manpower to develop a drawing control, and the functions of it are extremely limited. This method is costly, premature, and the scalability of it is poor, unable to meet the increasing of user's demand. On the basis of in-depth analysis of the network topology graphs in existing network management systems, this paper propose a Visio-based method according to the user's demand on network management system in the actual project, using.NET as the development platform, and C# as the programming language. The primary approach is the secondary development of the Visio. This kind of network topology graph has beautiful interface, powerful functions, user-friendly operations, and seamlessly integration with the alarm, configuration, performance management and some other network management functions. All of this can enhance the user's experience of the whole network management system. And the realization of user-mapping features, with low development costs, high flexibility and high scalability, can meet the user's increasing demand perfectly.
