With the development of information technology, computer network management has become an important part of the management of enterprises. To monitor a remote power network and intelligent buildings, a new algorithm for network topology discovering was designed, and an integrated network management system was exploited for network monitoring and management.To discover the topology structure of the devices in a network correctly, an integrated topology discovery algorithm based on breadth-first traversal was designed and implemented. In this algorithm, the discovery of the devices in the bottom layer was separated from the analysis of topology relations in the upper layer. Both the netwoek topology and physical network topology were discovered easily by using Graph theories. Test results showed that the speed and integrity of the algorithm is good and can meet the needs of engineering applications. To adapt to diffirent network invironment, three main management models, such as centralized model, distributed model, and hierarchical model, were analyzed and compared. According to the characteristics of the environment monitoring network, a model based on SNMP protocol whilch combined the features of cetralized model and hierarchical model was chosed as the network management model. Study results showed that the model is easy for implementation, and can adapt to a variety of complex network environments. Based on these, by employing module design and object-oriented method, an integrated network management system was designed and implemented. It was divided into four modules including protocol module, device data module, logic module and user interface module. The monitoring and management tasks for network equipments, servers, databases and application systems were completed. The application of the system in the remote power monitoring networks showed that the management system has strong stability and good expandability.Finally, according to the access needs of the equipments for IOT (Internet of Things), the management of the intelligent building network based on BACnet protocol was discussed. A SNMP proxy server and an OPC proxy server were designed and implemented. Obviously, it increases the function of the equipments accessing to the network management system.
