Research On The Technology Of Network Topology Discovery And Display Visio-based

The network topology discovery is the base of the network management system. A full-scale and clear visual network topology map can be used to grasp the whole network by the manager of network. It also provides much valid data to other modules in the network management system. So the research on the technology of network topology discovery and displaying the network topology map is very significative.This paper researches the methods about logical and physical topology discovery; and does some work based on that.Firstly,it makes some improvement to the efficiency of data acquisition on topology discovery,. Secondly, it researches the algorithm which is base on AFT(Address Forwarding Table)for physical topology discovery.And It points out a bug in existing algorithms, then gives a better method to avoid the bug.By this method, we can find all equipment and their connections for each other when there exsit VLAN in the network. Meanwhile, it develops the Rules for identifying network equipment.By the rules, we can find some dumb equipment which is impossibly managed in the network. This paper even more researches the visio-based display technology. And it digs up some advantages of the visio-based technology for displaying the network topology map. Finally, basing on the research above-mentioned, we implement a network topology discovery and display system. This system can show the result of topology discovery exactly and full. By this system, we not only can know the whole situation of the network clearly, but also can know the network trouble in time. Besides, we can get the network asset imformation to manager the network asset conveniently.For the part of drawing the map of network topology structure, we research the display technology basing on Microsoft Visio deeply. And we use the powerful drawing function of Visio and its ability of supporting secondary development to draw the topology map which is interactive. With the means of Visio secondary development and.the good use of functions of Visio, the difficulty and cost of development is greatly lowered and the development cycle is shortened.Meanwhile, the system performance is enhanced too.
