Web-Based Design And Implementation Of Network Management Software

With the development of technology and the popularity of Internet applications and the extending of network scale, network structure became more and more complex. An emerging problem is how to guarantee the network devices work safely, reliably, and efficiently. For various network devices and their software, a good network management software can provide effective supervision, explanation and control. Therefore, network management is a very important issue of the research of computer network technologies.This paper designs a network management software with AJAX and B/S architecture. This software is divided into four sub-systems:SNMP function system, data store system, Web system and Real-time alarm system. This software implements devices information collecting by polling, and provides Web access interface for the users, including a flexible network topology graph and real-time alarm display. By adopting the AJAX technology in the design of Web pages, the user experience is improved effectively. The software is easy to use and extend. This paper discusses some protocols related to network management, mainly about SNMP protocol and relevant theoretical foundation, and introduces B/S architecture. The whole software is divided into different sub-systems with different functions, and the particular design and implementation of each sub-system is discussed. The author also introduces the testing of the network management software and makes a summary based on those discussions. Some future improvement is proposed at the end of this paper.
