With the rapid evolution of optical technology, the optical networking has been a great development. The "adaptive" capability becomes an important goal of the next generation transmission networks. As an extension of Automatically Switched Optical Network (ASON), Wavelength Switched Optical network (WSON) addresses the wavelength intelligent scheduling problems. It further improved the ASON-based intelligent transmission functions, and achieved a global adaptive controllation of the optical network.In traditional transport plane, due to lack of 3R regeneration, Physical impairments will accumulate along the light path, which may degrade optical signal quality in long-haul transmission systems and make the data unrecognizable at the receiver. The transmission quality of optical signals can not be guaranteed, it is even worse in the large dynamic network.Above problems are investigated in this paper. A physical damage orientated self-adaptive resource management mechanism is proposed in this paper. It can sense changes in the underlying physical resources links, and these physical resources information will forwarded to the relevant assessment module. By adjusting these adjustable devices, the quality of optical signals are guarantied. A global adaptive controllation of the dynamic optical network is achieved.The main innovative contributions of this paper are listed as below.Firstly, in the adaptive multi-service optical networks, the traditional resource management mechanisms are no longer applicable. Three kinds of resource management extension solution are proposed, they are:routing based extension, signaling based extension and hybrid extension.Secondly, implement the link resource management module of AMSON. This module has the feature of Link Management Protocol (LMP) in the ASON/ GMPLS (Generalized Multi-Protocol Label Switching), at the same time, it is also a physical damage awareness module. By using of The ADAPTIVE Communication Environment (ACE) and object-oriented programming, the software's flexibility is enhanced.Thirdly, verify the adaptive control function of the resource management mechanism of AMSON by using AMSON test platform. AMSON test platform provides a complete service-oriented, adaptive controlled solution. The platform supports the adaptive establishment and removal of light path and wavelength-link monitoring. The test platform serves for the research of this paper.
