Material testing machine is one of the basic instruments, which is used to test mechanical performances of material, and it has been applied in universities and colleges, trading company, the field of military region. With the rapid development of testing technology, the measurement and control systems of traditional testing machines couldn't suit gradually to the requirement of users. It is urgent that there would be one measurement and control systems of traditional testing machines of low cost, easy maintenance, easily using, good extendability.In many wireless technologies, Zigbee wireless technology show good prospect in widespread application ranges, because of advantages such as: low consumption, low cost, a large number of nodes, long transmitting distance and so on. The embedded Linux operating system has these advantages of simplified kernel, open codes, suitable in many hardware platforms, stable performance, high degree of portability, support to almost network protocols, widely applied in electronic consumer and industry and so on. And with increasing complexity of measurement and control systems of testing machines, while the embedded Linux operating system was introduced, developers forcused their eyes on the completement of application and shortened development cycle. Due to the two strong points, measurement and control systems of testing machine absorbs Zigbee technology and embedded linux technology for going forward to digitization, integration and wireless step by step.The research subject which regards electronic universal testing machine as the object of study, is an study project of application related to embedded linux technology and Zigbee wireless technology. The main task of the research subject is the measurement part of new electronic universal testing machine based on embedded linux operating system. The research work of the dissertation include mainly as follows.1. In this article, first it is introduced developing trend of home and aborad of testing machine, embedded linux operating system, Zigbee wireless technology, and choose Zigbee technology and embedded linux technology as the main technologies of new system of testing machine. 2. After analysing the theroy of system of testing machine, introducing each part of data acquisition and processing system of testing machine with UML(The Unified Modeling Language).3. Investigate how to develop Zigbee application, and establish wireless network in order to realize the fuction of transmitting data in system of testing machine on the basis of analysis of Zigbee wireless network and Z-Stack.4. Descrube the process of creating embedded ARM-linux system on data acquisition board with the core of ARM. It includes the several aspects: establishment of embedded linux system platform, transplanting bootloader (U-boot) and linux kernel, creating linux root filesystem(including ftp server and tslib to be added), cutting and transplant embedded desktop system (Qtopia) on platform of x86 and ARM.5. Show how to develop application of system of testing machine. It mainly includes: data acquisition driver, Qt application and testing software on PC platform. First, introduce relevant parts of embedded data acquisition driver on ARM platform, and test its feasibility with testing program. Then, introduce the process of developing Qt application on ARM platform: a brief introduction of Qt development tools and embedded database SQLite, development of Qt application and integration with Qtopia. Last, develop testing program of testing machine on PC platform.
