With the development of technology, the semiconductor manufacturing process technology into the deep sub-micron era, in a chip of millions or even a transistor become a reality. Now that all chip makers have in order to minimize size, function to maximize their own development as the direction of deep sub-micron effects of IP theory. The system chip is currently the inevitable technological development trends, and the semiconductor industry is about to enter a Computer-on-a-Chip age.The single-chip computer is a computer, which maximize and integrate the main chips on the motherboard of the traditional PC into a single monolithic chip, so that the weight, size and power consumption reduced significantly, yet the performance will be significantly improved. This paper's main task is: to carry out research work on the 8086 Computer-on-a-Chip development projects, and research the SD card SPI protocol, custom design the ROMBIOS and VGABIOS software. The main works and achievements of this dissertation are follows:1. Analysis on the single-chip computer's BIOS software design challenges faced by some of the theories and the key technical problems to be addressed, and the corresponding solution;2. To build a complete set of BIOS software for the design of compiling, debugging, platform;3. Analysis of SD card SPI protocol, based on 8086 Computer-on-a-Chip, custom design ROMBIOS procedures;4. Analysis of VGA display principle, design VGABIOS procedure so VGABIOS compatible with the VGA controller to complete the text-mode display, and to achieve the cursor, scrolling and other functions;5. Successfully achieved with a floppy disk mirroring and disk mirroring boot from the SD card FreeDOS operating system.
