The so-called Computer-on-Chip(CoC) integrated circuit that contains the entire chipset of traditional PC motherboard on a single chip,sunch as CPU,Memory,VGA, Audio,Network Card,and Hard Disk,ect.The CoC's Hard Disk is made up of Flash chips instead of the traditional mechanical Hard Disk,in order to reduce its size,weight and power consumption,improve performance.This paper analyzes the architecture of the CoC and demand analysis of dsigin,determines two design scheme of the CoC'Hard Disk as follow:First,in order to aviod complex hardware design and short the design cycle,the SD card is used as the CoC's Hard Disk.The operation of SD card is achived by the BIOS programs.Second,the Flash is used as the CoC'Hard Disk,it is achieved to dsign a Flash-based Hard Disk controller that contains pipeline RS code and Circular Erasing Algorithm.The controller can enhances the stability of stored data and extends the life of Flash.In the paper,the top-down and based on the IP/SoC design methodology has been adopted.The various functional blocks of the CoC'Hard Disk have been implemented by three steps:The first step is that the function logic design with Verilog language.The second step is that each functional module is simulated by Modesim6.0.The thrid step is that the CoC'Hard Disk has been achieced by the Altera's DE2 of FPGA.The main research achievements and works of this thesis are as follows:<1>Design the data conversion interface between SD card and the CoC.<2> Design pipeline RS(204,188) encoder-decoder through Verilog language.<3> Flash-based and Circular Erasing Algorithm Hard Disk controller that pipeline RS(204,188) encoder-decoder is embedded in has been achiened.
