Traditional laser marking controller generally based on MCU, and using PCI slots to connect with computer. MCU-controlled marking systems are difficult to deal with high-speed parallel D/A converter and a large number of marking data transmission, the speed and accuracy of Laser marking are hard to promote. Using the PCI slot make the installation and dismantle of the controller not very convenient; and the analog voltage output of the controller in the wire are vulnerable to interference, making the accuracy of marking decrease. In order to compensate these disadvantages, a laser marking controller based on DSP processor and USB interface has developed in this paper, laser marking software is also mentioned.This laser marking control system using TMS320F2812 DSP as the processor, through the USB interface to transmit data, CPLD is used to extension I/O interfaces, a four-output D/A converter used to control the scanning galvanometer and laser power, and has buttons and LCD display for human-computer interaction. High performance D/A converter module greatly improve laser marking speed and accuracy, USB interface make laser marking controller support Plug and Play, enhance the stability of data transmission and convenient the installation and dismantle.Laser marking controller host machine software is developed with Visual Basic 6.0, characters and image processed into fixed format marking data according to dot-matrix or vector marking, marking program flow diagrams are given. Marking data transfer via USB interface to the lower machine. Lower machine firmware are developed with the corresponding EDA software, the USB firmware development process is described in detail. Finally, laser marking controller test results are given away. This paper describes the marking of the controller hardware and software systems, the function and performance of the system has reached desired results.
