Laser marking is a kind of technique using heat effect of laser to ablate materials on object surface so as to leave over permanent press. Compared with traditional press methods including electrochemistry, machine etc, laser marking have many merits such as no-pollution, high-speed, high-quality, good-flexibility, without-contact workpiece and so on. In latest years, Laser marking has replaced traditional marking methods in many fields as a routine processing mode, even formed a new technical standard. Laser marking machine is an integrated machine-electricity facility that integrates many techniques referring to laser, optics, exact- machine, computer etc into a whole. It is mainly composed of laser machine, optical system and controller, of which the controller is the kernel parts. Controller undergoes two developmental stages, NC and CNC. Since 1990抯, along with the flying development of computer technique, price relations of performance enhance constantly, numerical system basing on computer has become the mainstream of control-system development. At present, laser-marking controller mainly have two control modes, one adopts PC control, the other adopts SCM(Single Chip Microcomputer) control. The former is provided with perfect graphics processing competence, however, every marking machine requires to be equipped with an industry-control PC, so the cost is higher. The latter is cheaper, but existing SCM controller only can complete several simple graphics (e.g. beeline, arc) marking, lacking capability of processing graphics files. Aiming at the shortcomings of present control system, we come up with a mixed control-mode project that combines microcomputer control and SCM control. This system is made up of PC, communication module and SCM controller, firstly using PC to create and process graphics files, then transmitting to SCM controller through the serial communication interface ofRS-232, finally completing marking control by SCM controller. The innovative point of this system is that adopting a new-style Ill ~梸?MASTERS THESS controhiidde to combine graphics.~Focess function of nii鑢ocomputer with the control flrnction of SCM. Compared with microcomputer control system, mixed control-mode needn抰 equip every marking machine with a computer, several marking machines can share one computer, even if a common office computer is competent enough. Computer can break away from SCM system and deal with other work as soon as the graphics files are transmitted to SCM system, which decreases the cost greatly. Compared with SCM control system, SCM control system with mixed control-mode has function of processing graphics. Using new-generation and large-capacity flash memory AT29C040, it is capable of storing ten files at least at a time and q supporting PLT, BMP and PCX graphics format. This system uses so many anti-jamming measures that even in the strong-interfere U conditions it can work stably and reliably. The system receives good effect when it is practically used by Wuhan ChuTian Laser Group. Now this system that has been produced in batch has got great economic benefit.
