Basin-level remote dam safety monitoring technology is a hot topic and trends in the field of network security monitoring. The use of advanced network technology to centralized management of dams in the same basin can significantly enhance the real-time and reliability of monitoring data, minimize the safety problems due to human errors, untimely data reporting and decentralized management, etc. To the solution of this problem, a basin-level dam remote monitoring network system is developed. This paper focuses on the network data acquisition system, its main contents are as follows:(1) Research and development trend home and abroad of dam safety monitoring technology is discussed. And the issues confronted in the field of monitoring of dam safety are pointed out.(2) According to the needs analysis and design requirements of basin-level dam safety monitoring network, the overall structure of a basin-level network of dam safety is designed. A basin-level monitoring network structure map is given out. The structure and function of dam monitoring system network at all levels is described. A web-based information platform for data services is designed, and the corresponding technical measures for network security issues are given out.(3) According to functional requirements and technical performance requirements of the data acquisition system, the entire remote data acquisition system of basin-level dam safety monitoring network is designed. A relational database for data acquisition system is established. Data in the system are described using XML language. The realization of TCP based network communication using Socket is discussed. A customized communication protocol for application layer is designed. Detailed flow charts of both sides in collection process are given out; Outlier analysis algorithm in the data acquisition system is studied.(4) Communication components and functional modules of the basin-level remote data acquisition system are developed using component technology on.NET platform; Real-time access to database is realized using ADO.NET technology on.NET platform, and some optimization measures of the performance of database access are given out.The remote data acquisition system of basin-level dam safety monitoring network in this paper, realizes the remote monitoring, remote data acquisition and data storage in a basin-level dam safety monitoring center, provides a reliable data base for further safety status analysis of dams in the same basin. Besides, the safety monitoring network program can also be applied to the modification of other remote monitoring system network.
