With the rapid development of power industry, protecting the safety circuit protection devices and relays higher reliability is required. Relay protection tester has become the field of relay protection test equipment necessary. To ensure the reliability of the relay operation, in addition to good protection devices required, the protection of the secondary circuit must be good, correct, and need to put into operation in the main equipment for the first time,combined with the master boot experimental secondary circuit protection the accuracy of the test and check carefully.This paper based on the research and comparison to the traditional relay protection tester system makes the PC and instrumentation into one embedded platform to relay tester system, and gives the overall design of the system. After analysising the need of the system components, completed the operation of the embedded system platform for customization, and carried out in the custom touch screen, self-starting customized, power protection system platform customization at the same time, so the system can save on software resources, the more rapid, efficient,safe,reliable response to customers operation.Human-machine interface of the system uses LabVIEW graphical programming software to program. Describing LabVIEW programming on the edge at the interface, the software's overall architecture is given and the functional module design process, the main software modules are divided into serial communication, program design, data storage, image curve shows the generation and test report print, and the next generation in LabVIEW executable program ported to Windows XP Embedded operating system successfully.The upper computer includes eight test, common relay characteristic test, impedance relay characteristic test, inverse time limit current relay characteristic test, precise work current characteristic test, harmonic test, dynamo composite test, electric motor composite test. After completion of the design of each interface, the experimental results are given.The system can be set the parameter of the current and voltage by the user, using the application control singal source controls the electronic circuit, D/A conversion, power amply, transmitting output current and voltage of the define power to the relay test instrument, receiving the feedback of the relay test simultaneously, making the system response and record it, achieving the test result automatically.
