The first LED product comes out at years 1971, after about 40 years, LED technologies have made rapid development, it's emerging a lot of new industries and many new products. LED urban landscape is one of the applications of the LED industries.The LED Urban Landscape Controlling System (LULCS) that I want to introduce is defense from the Neon Light Advertisement System and the LED Display System. The display areas of the LULCS are usually much larger than the two systems descript above, and it's usually irregular and separated. LULCS Embedded Controller is the focal point of this paper.SD card is one of the most popular storage for EDA system development because it's high-capacity, portable and low-cost. FPGA (Field Programmable Gate Array) is one kind of high-speed, high-integrated and programmable hardware resources chips. The LULCS Embedded Controller using FPGA to realize the parallel of the image data obtaining and sending.The main jobs of this paper are described below.1. According to market needs, engineering requirements and characteristics of the LULCS. Design the framework of the LULCS Embedded Controller.2. According to the function requirements of the LULCS Embedded Controller, cooperate whit the PC software designer, design the system data frame format.3. The sub-board hardware design of the LULCS Embedded Controller, including the AVR microcontroller, keypad, LCD display panel and the communication circuit with the motherboard.4.The hardware circuit design inside the FPGA using Verilog-HDL language and the Quartusâ…ˇsoftware. This circuit realizes the SD card driver, Ethernet controller, sub-board-motherboard communication circuit.5. The software design of the AVR microcontroller, achieving the SD card command interfaces, FAT32 File System, playing function and manage function.6.LULCS Embedded Controller testing and debugging, ensuring the system's functions, performance can meet the project requirement.The LULCS Embedded Controller is an important sub-system of the LULCS that improving the competitiveness on the LED market of our country.
