HSUPA is the optimization and evolution for packet service in uplink direction. It is another great evolution of TD-SCDMA standard after HSDPA. To support HSUPA, a new transport channel, namely Enhanced Dedicated Channel (E-DCH), is added to the uplink of TD-SCDMA system, which is a transmission channel for carrying high-speed uplink data. Its transmission time interval (TTI) is 5 ms, supporting high order modulation and HARQ process in Layer 1 (L1). The resources to be used, including power, time slot, code channel,.etc, may be assigned by the Node-B scheduling. Two control channels, Enhanced Uplink Control Channel (E-UCCH) and Enhanced Random Uplink Control Channel (E-RUCCH), are used to send uplink enhancement related signalling. The paper is a summary of the author's theoretical study and research experience in graduate school. We first introduced the HSUPA system. Then the detailed summary and design of E-DCH and E-UCCH are given for both transmission and reception. After that, we give the architecture of MATLAB platform, simulation results and performance analysis. In chapter 6, the structure of DSP and some points of how to design programmed are introduced. At last the architecture of fixed point platform is briefly illustrated.
