The Internet protocol (IP) consisted the basely communication mechanism of Internet, and the fourth version of IP protocol has been used for more than twenty years. With the number of Internet users increasing exponentially, and Internet extend its scope almost to everywhere worldwide. Furthermore, Internet has met many serious problem: address exhausted, route table expanded, less support to the network security and multimedia application. To meet the users' new needs of more IP address space, better network performance and better security, the next genaration Internet protocol (IPv6) has been come into being. We can solve the most of problem of IPv4 by using IPv6.In this article, a plan of IPv6 testbone construction of China Education and Rearch Network (CERNET) in Hunan province has been put forward. This article is composed of two units:Unit 1: this unit includes Chapter 1, Chapter 2. In Chapter 1, we mainly introduce the source and purpose of the project being designed and complement. In Chapter 2, we discuss the specialty of IPv4 and IPv6, and the implementation of transition mechanism of changing IPv4 to IPv6 and we choose Tunnel Broker as our method to build up IPv6 testbed.Unit 2: this unit includes Chapter 3, Chapter 4 and Chapter 5. In Chapter 3, we introduce the IPv6 testbed research status worldwide and how to implement IPv6 protocol in different software and hardware platform. The key question of testbed construction is put forward in detail. We implement the IPv6 protocol in Linux and Windows Platform by ourselves with a research propose. Some modules of these two platform has been changed by us, such as C lib, API fuction and DLL. Furthermore, we discuss the detailed configuration and implement structure of IPv6 testbone of CERNET Changsha node. In Chapter 4, we introduce the result of testing this testbone. In Chapter 5 we introduce our applied IPv6 testbed address and official address and summarize the main works written in this dissertation. The testbone that we discuss in this article has been proved to achieve the function we planned, and the theory of this project is implemented properly and rationally. I hope that we could be benefit from this testbone in our IPv6 research project in future.
