Along with China's economic development, the standard of people's material life is rising day after day. Therefore, people are craving for more cultural life than before, especially the fashion information. Meanwhile, fashion magazines are flourishing during China's course of reform and open, becoming popular among those who have passion on everything about fashion. As the representative, college students show great zealousness to fashion magazines, the reasons are the beautiful pictures,fashion information,short pithy articles,easy-to-understand contents of fashion magazines are appealing to college students'taste, give them unprecedented experiences. Thus fashion magazines and college students are bond to spark and have a kind of relation with each other.Studying on fashion magazines, we can find that the consuming culture and esthetic culture contained in it have six characteristics:common, popularization, commercialization, innovation, self-consciousness, contradiction and all of these have the positive or negative effect on college students'values, mode of thinking and so on, which means the college student culture can be affected; hence universities should pay great attention on this. In order to meet the challenges of fashion magazines'effects, the author takes founding the right values, shaping the collective mind and transiting the mode of thinking of college students as the main educational suggestions to universities.The thesis consists four parts:The first part compromises the purpose, significances, reviews, and methods, innovation of the research and the definition of the core words.The second part compromises the analysis of the culture contained in fashion magazines and the culture's characteristics. The culture referred is consuming culture and esthetic culture. The characteristics are common, popularization, commercialization, innovation, self-consciousness, contradiction.The third part compromises the location of positive and negative influences on college students, mainly on their values, mode of thinking and psychology.The forth and the last part compromises the methods for admitting the positive influences and eliminate the negative influences such as the establishment of right values, the cultivation of esthetic sense,the shape of collective mind and the transition of thinking mode for all college students.
