Security of production and safety of miners are the eternal themes of the coal industry. Just as advanced safety equipment and technique is an important means to ensure the safety of miners and to achieve rapid rescue. Underground miner positioning system, as an important part of mine facilities, can immediately and accurately reflect the motion of underground miners to the ground computer system, giving management stuff rapid information about the position of underground miners. At the same time, with the rapid development of modern information technology and the embedded technology, embedded systems become more widely used in security, industrial control, wireless systems, and devices. Therefore the study of embedded technology for coal mine safety production and development of underground personnel positioning system is of great significance.Relying on the coal mine safety situation and underground personnel positioning system needs, combining RFID and embedded technology, this article develops the Positioning System for underground workers. According to the actual needs of the system, we are using ARM processor of Samsung's S3C2440 series as the platform, Linux as the operating system and CAN technology as the transmission program for the design of underground personnel positioning system hardware, the building of software platform and the development of software system.This thesis first analyzes the actual demand for the underground personnel positioning system, and then designs the system's overall network architecture. On the basis of analyzing the working principle of this system, it conducts a thorough research on RFID and CAN field-bus technology. After presenting an overall scheme, it designs the hardware circuit of the underground personnel positioning system, including such circuit layouts as radio frequency readers, RF cards and CAN bus transmission module. As for the design and development of software, the thesis gives a full description of the construction of the platform for Embedded Linux System Software, which includes the establishment of cross-compiling environment, the guide of the loading of BootLoader Program, the transplant of Kernel and Diver and the making of Root-file System; the analysis of the design of RFID and the development of Embedded SQLite Server, making use of nRF2401Chip to receive and update the information of underground miners from RF cards to Card Readers and to analyze and study and then give a solution to the problem of anti-collision against RFID System; the final design and development of CAN Bus Transmission Network, using MCP2515 Chip to expand CAN Bus Interface on ARM9 Platform and help to compile and transplant the Driver for CAN Bus Controller, thus making the transmission of the information of underground miners to the ground inspecting computers come true. Thus, a basic building of the underground personnel positioning system is realized.At the end of the thesis, I summarize and analyze the progress this research has made and the problems it has presented, putting forward the prospects for further study.
