| SNS (Social Network Site) takes place increasingly great development in recently years. It provides a liberal and self-presentation platform for "looked" female in mass media times. This study about female self-image on SNS adopted content-analysis methodology, took female self-image on Xiaonei.com as a subject and probed systematically and comprehensively into self-presentation methods, contents and characters for three sections of Xiaonei.com as "profile photo", "blog" and "share", comparing with female and male.The research findings showed:It is not an obstacle for female to face a new technology. On the contrary, female appear more interested and enthusiasm than male on SNS. More important, SNS offers female more discourse power than before and is prone to equal rights with male. To some extent, female still are stuck to stereotyping in mass media and unconsciously place herself as a looked subject. However, female basically have appeared gender awareness.First, as "profile photo",80.82% female adopted medium exposure level usual life photo as profile photos. The female self-images of it are mainly as "nature" and "sweet" type. So it can be concluded that female didn't consciously want to be a looked subject. Second, on blog female prefer to write private blog, fewer to repaste public information. The contents of female blogs are blogging daily life and personal moods. But the study showed:some female are about to pay attention with social fields and try to speak out the points of them. Third, female pay more attention to diversified fields, not only in private fields but also public fields. The more shared contents are:culture, famous person, family, artistic appreciation and relaxation. Therefore, there seems awakening gender awareness of female and presenting the different female self-image.On the basis of the analyses, some suggestions were given to promote female gender awareness and further researches. |
