From "Abreaction" To "Rational Act" Of Natizen

In contemporary China, national strength enhances substantially and international standing promotes remarkably after reforming and opening-up for more than twenty years. Incidenting to this change, Chinese nationalist trend developed once again in the early 1990s. The rapid development of Internet provides a new platform and a new manifestation of nationalism. Rapid growth of netizen and preponderant communication of network information bring forth Chinese network nationalism gradually.From the beginning of the nineties in last century to the turn of this century, network nationalism has gone through a development for more than ten years. The change of domestic and foreign situation and maturing of Internet technology make network nationalism flux and reflux. Forum on making the country prosperous, Net of patriot alliance and Net community of AC April youth represent three development stages respectively. Roles of network nationalist and methods of discourse expression both present respective feature. From "the angry youth" in the beginning who only regard Internet as a pipeline to relieve their patriotic and nationalist feelings, to the opinion leaders from virtual world to real life, then to "the April youth" who fight for discourse power with western countries actively nowadays, network nationalist change extreme to rational and active gradually.Government, intellectuals, the masses and traditional media are important factors in these three development stages. Some of them participate in and promote the development of network nationalism, some of them orientate network nationalism by their own influence. Strong and weak power change and reciprocity in varying degrees of these factors influence network nationalism obviously. In this article, I chose Forum on making the country prosperous, Net of patriot alliance and Net community of AC April youth to be the notch of my research, and discuss historical and actual reasons to the change of network nationalism in recent years. I would like to chose network nationalist to be my intensive research angle, analyse their changes in different period. Then I try to analyse how nationalism presents with combined action of Government, intellectuals, the masses and traditional media from the angle of network nationalist's words and deeds,government attitude, the interaction of traditional media and public opinion on the net.From the synchronic and diachronic analysis of three periods, we can find that even extreme words and deeds exist in every stage of network nationalism for over ten years, but objective and rational attitude gain the upper hand more and more. It represents rational and soft development orientation. Network nationalist threw off the passive situation under "stimulus-response" mode in practical action. They cannot be trifled with in the fighting for discourse power with western mainstream society and domestic traditional media.
