More and more perplexed systems are existed in modern industrial processes, the serious lag, coupling and uncertainties are common existed in their control plant,the mathematical model of control plants are not calculated accurately; the control quality of traditional control theory and modern control theory are reduced because of their high dependence on exact model of control object; predictive control is more suitable for the need of uncertain environment in complex industrial process control than the traditional optimal control and adaptive control, as the complex real system is always used as its application plant, the high accuracy of model is not requested, the time delay plant and non-minimum phase systems are controlled comfortably and the traceability is good.GPC is derived from 80's, it is the result of adaptive control; it is more suitable for theoretical analysis than early MPC and DMC, it is more suitable for practical application than later predictive control for an integrated approach; GPC is applied widely in industrial control when it emerged and the value for economic is achieved, so the research significance is important.The complicated calculations and long computing time are the shortages of GPC, an improved algorithm of GPC called IGPC is introduced in this article; general industrial plants are usually approximated by second-order system, firstly, a second-order circuit is used as the control plant, DSP is used as controller to achieve control of IGPC, then the parameters of impact and immunity are analyzed; finally, this improved algorithm is applied on process control device named EFAT/P, the design of water temperature control system based on DSP is achieved, the control purposes of stable tracking for a given temperature.
