Wireless sensor network(WSN) has been a new research area for some years. WSN consists of a large amount of wireless sensor nodes integrated with sensing, computing and communication modules. It senses information from physical world and transmits the messages to the users. The features of self-adaptive, ruin-resistant, easy deployment and low cost, enable WSN to conduct many special application, such as environment surveillance, medical, smart homing military application. To extend lifetime of WSN, ensure its easy usage and guarantee the effectiveness of its data transmission is an important issue for wireless sensor network.ZigBee network as a representative type of WSN, has lots of advantages such as low cost, data transfer low and small communication range since the Tree Routing Protocol for ZigBee doesn't require any routing tables to send the packet to the destination, it can be used in ZigBee devices that have limited resources. However the Tree Routing Protocol for ZigBee doesn't take the limited of energy into consideration, as one routing nodes being out of energy, thus it together with its children as well as its children's children will lose connection with the network. This paper proposes a new Tree Routing Protocol for ZigBee based on energy. When the power of one routing node is lower than the value that has been provided before, it will notify its children that please find a new parent to join in the network again.According to the comparisons with the tree routing protocol by simulation, this algorithm had obvious advantages in extending the life of total network.
