Wireless sensor nodes deployed in wild environment are provided by limited battery energy which is difficult to be recharged. Therefore, it is crucial to low the energy consumption of wireless sensor network (WSN). In this thesis, a low-energy consumption routing strategy is studied. On the basis of WSN routing algorithms, an improved algorithm is proposed based on Cluster-Tree and AODVjr to extend the network lifetime.Firstly, an enhanced AODVjr algorithm is put forward to solve the energy-unaware problem of AODVjr. This algorithm provides a new method to calculate the path cost and a novel RREQ message handling mechanism to protect on the low-energy nodes.Secondly, Cluster-Tree algorithm, which is implemented by Zigbee MAC layer, is transplanted onto network layer and used with the improved AODVjr algorithm as a new routing policy called Tree-AODVjr". This method can not only prevent the RREQ packets from flooding benefiting from the Cluster-Tree, but also provide a flexible routing maintenance/repair scheme.Lastly, all the three algorithms are simulated on the platform of OMNeT++. The simulation program provides the function of building the network topology and displaying the animation of the simulation. The results show that the improved algorithm does well on reducing and balancing WSN energy consumption.
