Wireless sensor network is a new direction in the field of information science, but also the crossing trend between emerging disciplines and traditional academic subjects. It went through three stages:smart sensors, wireless smart sensors, wireless sensor networks. Smart sensors'node not only has data acquisition capability, but also filtering and processing data capability because of the embedded computing power. Wireless smart sensors have been increased wireless communication capacity which greatly extended sensor antenna and reduced project implementation costs. In wireless sensor networks, the sensors are no longer a single unit, but an organic combination that can exchange information. It has an important feature of resource-constrained compared with traditional networks such as energy, computing power, storage, communication capacity and so on. Therefore, the key issue to consider is low power consumption and low cost while studying a variety of wireless sensor network technology. However, the existing routing protocols for sensor network did not focused on considering the security, As the routing protocol to meet low power requirements has designed, it's corresponding on security studies have become a new hot spot. This paper introduces some classic routing protocols such as DD, LEACH, GEAR. LEACH, as the representative cluster routing protocol, was found to have a good performance in energy consumption and security based on comparative analysis. Then, we give the analysis of LEACH in detail, and achieve the simulation of LEACH in NS2 simulation platform. Later, we describe the improvement and modification about LEACH for energy consumption and security. Based on the extensive analysis of typical routing protocols, such as LEACH and LEACH-C, an improved clustering-based routing protocol named ILEACH was proposed. The optimal number and the reasoned distribution were ensured by limiting the formative zone of cluster-head and the cluster-head is selected according to the residual energy. The second scheme is that we presented a secure cluster-based router protocol named CSRP, which addressed the problems of inadequate consideration for security and limited energy in Wireless Sensor Networks. CSRP, which is based on LEACH, takes saving of energy consumption and improving of routing security as its design targets. Key distribution scheme which are suitable for Wireless Sensor Networks is added to CSRP to ensure the data integrity, freshness and authentication. Meanwhile, bi-directional evaluation mechanism is used to detect malicious nodes and enhance the network security. Simulation results shows that the proposed protocol CSRP has better performance than SLEACH in terms of anti-capture ability while there exists malicious nodes. Furthermore, the energy consumption rises slowly.
