As the development of the Internet age, the unlimited increasing data has put forward some new demands to the servers, such as saving space, easy to implementing centralized management and providing uninterruptedly service. So the Blade Server was born.In the system of Blade Server, every signal board performance and integration has improved a lot.The power dissipation of every sigal board is over 300W, so the system power dissipation can be as much as over thousand watts. The power has direct effect on the performance of the servers.Especially as the rapidly development of cpu, chipset and controll chips, the core voltage is lower and lower, the current is higner an higher. Also, the reliability, stability and efficiency of power must reach the higner demand.This paper research and design the power system of Blade Server board base on AMD Operton processor.First of all, for the power dissipation demands of the key chips and peripheral circuit, the topology structure base on ATCA of the power system is designed.And then, according to the guide line of system, every signal power module is designed in detail.Including 48V slow start moudle, buck switch module,STB power module and ldo.Thereinto, Thereinto,buck switch module provides the voltage supply for key chip and relative circuits,including TPS40071 module and VRM.In this paper, the implementation technique of PWM current mode is used to control buck module, the feedback loop is realized by voltage feeback and current feedback.It has higher stability and faster transient response. According to the features of CPU power demand, the paper provide a method of multiphase DC/DC power to realize VRM, this technique can improve the fast response capability while the requirement of low voltage and high current are satisfied.Because of a great variety of power and different chip has different time sequence demand.The logic module is designed to make sure the board power acts in accordance with the correct time sequence. At last, the signal board power is tested from following several aspects, switch efficiency and voltage precision, ripple and noise; transient response.The test results can satisfy the system demand.
