In the future, optical fiber communication will be Occupying an important position in the communications industry because of its advantage which that large capacity, long distance, security performance, adaptable etc.Erbium-Doped Fiber Amplifier(EDFA)is the represent of rare earth element doping optical amplifier. EDFA have been indispensable in optic communication on account of high-gain, high pumping efficiency, and polarization-independent.signal small crosstalk etc.But when a string of optical pulses through the optical amplifier,the first pulse will be influence the next,even a single pulse,the leading edge will be influence the trailing edge.it is called EDFA’s transient response.in the DWDM systems or the future of all-optical communication systems,the transient characteristics of EDFA is especially apparent.The main content of this article is to set up the test and simulation platform, analysis and study of the relationship between the signal power, pump power, signal symbol rate and EDFA gain recovery time.Determined the influence of signal power, pump power to gain recovery time and the most obvious distortion conclusion that signal symbol rate is comparable to gain recovery time.
