News Frame Representation Of Liu Xiang's "Withdrawl" And "Back"

"Xiang Fei Ren", as a remarkable athlete all around of China and even the world, his news always can bring high attention. Xiang's withdrawl in 2008 Bejing Olympic Games and back in 2009 Shanghai Golden Grand Prix are both important turning points in his sport career, and absolutely attracted high attention from mess media. By the method of frame analysis in the news frame theory, taking the reports of Liu Xiang's"withdrawl"and"back"in 8 dailies of"People's Daily","Xinmin Evening News","China Sport Daily","Oriental Daily News","The China Times","New York Times"and"The Times"as the individual case, this paper analyzed all relevant reports, especially pictures, and discuss the relation of news frame, news source, life cycle and media attitude.The concerned questions include: I. Discussing the media frames consisting in different media and comparing these to study the real causes; II. Discussing the characteristic of news source reference and finding out the influence on news frame construction; III. Analyzing the media events'life cycle and reviewing the reasons from deep aspect. This paper got some conclusions as below: I. In this case, the domestic mess media shared the similar reporting frame, but there was great difference among the newspapers from oversea, Hong Kong and Taiwan; II. Due to the basic role of the mess media under the situation of China, when the study focused on reports of Liu Xiang's"withdrawl"in 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, the performance by domestic newspaper was exceptional; III. Different newspapers adopted different news sources to construct different reporting frames and directly affected the multiplicity of reports.
