In recent years, cable and wireless communications technology has developed rapidly, such as Internet and mobile communications have brought to convenient and affordable. However, the final few meters and tens of meters of the communication problems, has been tireless researched by scholars and experts. So the short-range wireless communication technology has become a very popular object of study. So all kinds of short-range wireless communications technology came into being, such as infrared, Bluetooth, ZigBee and other technologies. Among them, infrared and Bluetooth technology has been applied to our daily lives, such as infrared remote controller, Bluetooth headsets and so on. The ZigBee technology has been taken more and more attention for its low power consumption, small size, low cost and so much.This article is a study of ZigBee wireless technology in ECG data transmission system.The system can be nested into ECG monitoring systems.For example, hospital care systems, home monitoring systems. Firstly,The article introduces the ZigBee technology background, characteristics, development, and the ZigBee technology and other short-range wireless communications technology comparison, to illustrate the reasons for using this technology and advantages.Secondly, it introduce the ZigBee network protocol stack of wireless communications and networking, and the protocol stack, where are four layers, were analyzed and included their functions and levels of data transmission in data format, so that we can have deeper understanding about the ZigBee technology.Third,we introduced the hardware platform which been used in this thesis. In the design of hardware systems, the control chip is provided by TI's MSP430F149 microcontroller, and designed their peripheral circuit. RF module is Chipcon's CC2420 chip. Power module uses a TPS60313 chip, liquid crystal display module is the ST7565. In this section, we describes the performance characteristics of these chips, peripheral circuits and their hardware. Finally,we also design the human-computer interaction circuit, serial interface circuit and JTAG circuit.The next thing is to introduce ZigBee protocol stack software, and data transmission characteristics according to this article to configure the network parameters, and gives the flowcharts of the send node and receiving nodes in the wireless data transmission. Then we introduce the MIT-BIH database. A variety of ECG data which is stored in the database, can be transmissioned by the ZigBee transmission system. Further we detailed analysis and design the data packet format of the ECG data to transmit in this article ZigBee protocol.Finally, some experiments, including point to point wireless communication experiment, temperature collection and wireless communications test, would be taken.
