In order to implement the central government's important spiritual that "Let the people drink pure water", thus promoting the level and efficiency of rural water supply's modern management and providing practical management tools for water supply information system, the author was commissioned to participate in this project, researched and developed Rural Drinking Water Information System(RDWIS) for a province.Based upon string pattern matching, spatial data technique, XML technique, heterogeneous system integration, application framework design, system modeling theory and software implementation methods, the author developes and maintaines the Rural Drinking Water Information System which based on Microsoft Visual Studio 2005.Considering the problem of throughing the string comparison to integrate and displaying the information in the system, the author propose a method based on string pattern matching to accomplish the project data of various type to integrate on demand, and to overcome the contrast deficiencies of the past manual data, therefore ensuring the quality of data, and improving the efficiency of the system.Considering the problem of poor commonality,less information and low utilization ratio about spatial data in WebGIS subsystem. The authors propose the conversion method based on XML about spatial database and relational database. Thus It can resolve these problem what is exist in the original WebGIS, and also well to link organically the spatial information database and relational database. It will increase the utilization ratio of information what based on intuitive visualization in the project, and provide the effective basis to data analysis and making-decision.Finally, according to the user's actual requirement, the author carried out analysis, design, coding, and optimization, and these can be reflected in the system. At present, the system has been deployed in the information center, and run well.This paper elaborates the basic theory and technology used in the system. The process of the system's analysis, design and coding are also introduced in this Paper.
