With the development of market economy and improvement of people's life, every corner of the world is largely and highly required the safeguard and locale alarm system. Video surveillance system with real-time monitorring and great advantage of manage to control, attaches people's eyes increasingly. FPGA-based video capture system with flexible application and can be modified, upgraded and reconstructed for different user needs, anytime, anywhere without changing the hardware platform of the circumstances. Therefore, the video acquisition system designed in this paper is based on FPGA and Nios II soft-core.First, the paper intrduces the SOPC technologics, Nios II soft core processor. Later the paper shows the video capture system based on Altera Cyclone EP2C35F484C6 and built upcapture control module, SRAM controller module, color space conversion module, video port module and display controller module with Verilog HDL. The image tries the OV7620 image sensor and SAA7113H video ADC chip. Finally the entire system contain the analog video signal acquisition, processing and displaying in the TFT-LCD.After finishing the independent debugging of each functional unit, it deals with the integration and hardware debugging of the system. The results show that the video capture system with Nios II soft core can process the real-time acquisition, storeage, disposal and displaying of image of 640*480 pixel.
