To increase the radar detection range, pulse compression is commonly adopted as a mature technology in modern long-distance guard radar. This paper deals with some problems in engineering implementation of multi-channel pulse compression combining with some large scale array radar. The paper first reviews the basic principle of pulse compression, and then introduces the characteristic and generation methods of LFM and NLFM signal, as well as two realization methods of pulse compression. Simulations on pulse compression of LFM and NLFM signal are presented. It aims at some large scale array radar, which has plenty of channels and as a result needs to carry on multi-channel pulse compression simultaneously. Both the signal processing speed and transmission problems of the input and output multi-channel data should be considered in the engineering implementation on hardware platform which includes eight TS201s and an EP2S60. So this paper works over the realization of multi-channel pulse compression and brings forward the schema that adopts multilevel pipeline parallel processing and data transmission. Program on multi-DSP parallel processing is optimized and logic design, synthesize as well as timing on FPGA is carried on. The results of outfield experiments and testing performance are also presented, which show that they are consistent with the MATLAB simulation results and meet the system requirements.
