Due to the fast development of informationization, high technology, communications and networks in modern society, the conditions of community security becomesworseningand the security awareness of the people is strengthening as well,while the security guarantee appears hard to make.,With all mentioned above,people relies on ID identification more and more.Now, as a non-contact method of ID certification, biometrics has won the people's favor。Biometric technology is a method to make the ID certification by using the inherent features of human body, including various of sensors made by applyingthe technology of computer,optics, mechanics, acoustics, semiconductor, basing on biological theories,.Biometric technology has advantages on ID identification for its unicity and stability, compared with traditional way. The technology of modern optics, mechanics, acoustics, semiconductor has beenquite mature, therefore, the sensors on the basis of the biological theories has been well developed. The research outcome demonstrates thatthe biological characteristic is unique and comparatively stable, therefore,it is not easy to be counterfeited.So, it is secure, reliable and accurateBy means of the modern computer technology, the biological recognition product can comparative easily to satisfy the needs onsecurity authentication, supervision and control, etc.. With the breakthrough of biological recognition technology a big development of the safety authentication, supervision, management and pattern recognition theories could also be realized.As the human characteristics, iris is unique, biological characteristics includes physiological characteristics and behavioral characteristics. Not all of the features can be used for biological identification, but only the parts as followed,physiological characteristics such as palm print, fingerprint, face, iris, retina, DNA, etc., behavioral characteristics such as handwriting, voice, gait, etc. Now the technology of biometrics put into the marketincludes fingerprint identification, face recognition, voice recognition, handwriting recognition, iris recognition, recognition of human arteries. Compared with traditional method of ID certification, biometrics has the best security and stability. As one method of biometrics, iris recognition is a focus for biometric study. Iris recognition technology,based on the features of iris had features on universal, uniqueness, high stability, facilitate collection, rich texture, etc., so it is highly welcomed. The ID certification by using iris feature is considered to have a very good market prospects.According to the features of iris, the paper briefed the basic framework of iris recognition system and how it works,, detailed the algorithms of iris recognition which include iris acquisition, iris quality evaluation edge location, image standardization, feature extraction and pattern recognition, etc.. This article used a iris separation technology to make the iris image quality evaluation;whichcan meet the extraction needs better. The iris image also includes the non-veins part except the veins part, so the edge of iris should be located. In this paper, Canny detection and Hough transform are used in the process of the edge location of iris. In process of the feature extraction, the method of wavelet transform is used. The wavelet transform is partial transform in time and frequency domain, which can extract information from the signal effectively. With the operation of stretch-compressing and translation, it can anatomize the function or the signal on multi-scale. Therefore, we extract the iris characteristic by wavelet transform with zero-crossing method, and made better experiment result. In the stage of iris characteristic match, the method of hamming distance is used, also madebetter experiment result.STARTING FROM THE IRIS RECOGNITION TECHNOLOGY, THE ACCESS CONTROL SYSTEM BASED ON IRIS RECOGNITION TECHNOLOGY IS DESIGNED, THE ARTICLE DESCRIBED THE DESIGN PROGRAM WHICH INCLUDES ELECTRICITY SUPPLY, IRIS COLLECTION, MEMORY EXPANSION, KEYBOARD, LCD, DATA COMMUNICATION, DOOR LOCK CONTROL, MCU MODULE. WHEN THE KEYBOARD INFORMATION IS IMAGE EXTACTION, THE ACCESS CONTROL SYSTEM IDENTIFICATION PROGRAM DSP ORDERS THE IMAGE ACQUISITION INSTRUMENT TO MAKE THE IMAGE ACQUISITION, THEQUALIFIED IMAGE AFTERDETECTION WOULD BE SAVEDTEMPORARILY TO SDRAM, SDRAM IS USED TO IMPLEMENT PROGRAMS AND SAVE THE TEMPORARY DATA. WHEN THE DSP ANALYZED IMAGES COMPLETELY AS REQUIRED, AND REGISTRATION INFORMATION CONFIRMED, IT WILL SAVE THE IRIS CODE INTO FLASH, FLASH IS USED TO STORE PROGRAM CODE AND THE IRIS CHARACTERISTICS. SYSTEM KEYBOARD FOR USERS TO INPUT INFORMATION AND CONTROL SYSTEM WORKING CONDITIONS. IRIS CONFIRMATION RESULTS AND OPERATION ORIENTATION,WOULD BESHOWN ON THE LCD. AFTER THE SUCCESS IN PATTERN RECOGNITION, DSP WOULD SEND OPEN SIGNAL TO THE CONTROLLER MCU, MCU CONTROLS THE DOOR LOCK OR OPEN. AND THEN DOOR LOCK DETECTION DEVICE TESTS THE LOCK CONDITIONS , THEN SEND THE INFORMATION TO THE CONTROLLER, THE CONTROLLER WOULD SEND ALERT INFORMATION ACCORDING TO FEEDBACK INFORMATION. THIS SYSTEM USES USB2.0 INTERFACE BETWEEN THE DSP AND IMAGE ACQUISITION INSTRUMENTS OF COMMUNICATION. THE ACCESS CONTROL SYSTEM, IS DESIGNED BASING ON THE PRINCIPLE OF HIGH PERFORMANCE TO PRICE RATIO, AND INTEGRATES DSP AND MCU IN ONE, IN ORDER TO MAKE THE SYSTEM MORE CONVENIENT TO USE. IT REALIZED FAST RECOGNITION SPEED, HIGH ACCURACY, STRONG STABILITY, AND HIGH PERFORMANCE-PRICE RATIO, CERTAINLY, IT WILL HAVE GOOD MARKET PROSPECTS.
