With the enlargement of the application scope of embedded system, it is desired to use embedded operation system as the platform of the system more and more. Under the background of rapid development of embedded system technology, the key is to choose an appropriate embedded operation system to obtain application aim and to satisfy the complex requirements of users. Today, applying Linux to embedded system is one of the hot studies of embedded areas.The advantages of embedded Linux are analyzed and the concept and the characteristic of embedded system are discussed in detail in the paper. The application of operation display which occupies little resource and has a good efficiency is designed by MiniGUI class libraries based on the frame of radar operation display system. The theory of multi-task programming is discussed and the programming of serial communication and the interface design of operation display are stressed.The operation display system is tested by simulating the data. Test results show that all the basic functions required can be realized, the system is in a good state and the programs are running steadily. The operation display system has strong expansibility, so various functions could be added to according to idiographic equipments. The operation display system will be applied in military command system with further design, of which the information resources are radars.
