Whereas the general microprocessor and operating system are in monopoly phases, expand embedded processor, embedded operating system and their application is a good opportunity for us to exceed the world. The main task of our base is measuring, controlling and communicating of the satellite's launching. However, the current system has some abuses, so we have no time to delay to rebuild the system. With the appearance of the microprocessor, CPUs with low cost and small shape provide a structure of hardware that has stabilization and credibility to connect the peripherals. Thus, the essential restrict of the Measure Control System's developing in function, credibility, standardization and expansibility is the operating system platform. Embedded linux has inherent predominance at this aspect.There are three fields in the research of embedded linux: the reducing and customizing of the system, real time capability and graphical user interfaces (GUI). This paper takes the rebuilding of the Central Control and Display System of Timer as an example to show the research of the application of embedded linux in the Measure Control System. This paper emphasizes on the design of real time capability based on RTLinux and the design of GUI based on miniGUI. For the requirement of application, this paper also shows the research of the linux device driver and the implementation of the device driver for the Decode Board of Central Timer (DBCT). The conclusion of this paper is that the rebuilding of the embedded real time Linux for the Central Control and Display System of Timer is success. We have achieved the anticipative target and resolved primarily the abuses of the current system.
