Water in the 21st century is becoming a valuable scarce resource, the water resource problem has been not only the question of resources is also related to the country's economic and social sustainable development and long-term stability of the major strategic issues. Based on this, using water-saving, energy-saving irrigation methods have become the world's general trend .At present, in the United States, Israel and other developed countries, the use of advanced water-saving irrigation technology has greatly enhanced the efficiency of water use; In the United States, California is even based on the form of legislation to mandate the new company to use the intelligent irrigation systems. In China, agricultural water use accounts for about 70% of the total water use, because over the years to take the traditional flood irrigation method, at present the effective utilization rate of China's agricultural water use is only about 40%, far below the United States and other developed countries, 70% to 80% level. The use of advanced water-saving irrigation technology to improve the utilization of water resources to alleviate our shortage of water resources, improve ecological environment, enhance economic efficiency, to achieve sustainable development of great significance.Wireless sensor network technology originated in the 70s of last century. With the development for 30 years, it has achieved remarkable results. As wireless communication technology, signal processing technology, microelectronic technology and network technology developing rapidly, wireless sensor network is from a single-system model to miniaturization, integrated, intelligent, network-based direction, and has become an important technology. As a wireless sensor network protocol standard, ZigBee technology has excellent performance for a large number of short-range wireless communications applications and provide a low-cost, low power, high reliability solution. This paper presents an intelligent water-saving irrigation systems based on ZigBee wireless sensor network. The system is combined by the ZigBee wireless sensor networks, modern mobile communications network and the Ethernet, the ZigBee wireless sensor networks is for real-time monitoring of soil moisture and the mobile communications network and fiber optic Ethernet is used to achieve the systems and remote monitoring information on staff interaction. Focused on the ZigBee wireless sensor network topology design, directional spread, as well as the underlying routing protocol and the data fusion algorithm. And the experiments verified the design is feasible.
