The modem production requires heavy demand of equipment repairs. The quick and high caliber repair is vitally important to the long cycle and successive motion of the machines. The condition monitoring technology is fundamental to diagnosis of engine trouble. At present, there are three typical types of machine condition monitoring. They are offline terminal monitoring system, online condition monitoring but offline fault diagnosis system and automatic online condition monitoring and fault diagnosis system. The automatic online condition monitoring and fault diagnosis system is the most advanced way. By this way, not only the condition of machine is monitored and diagnosised automatically, but also data processing and analyzing is carried on online automatically. The intellectual comparison and judgment of machineis processed by specialistic experience and correlative rule too.Above all, this paper describes the demands of system function. On the basis ofthese demands, the screw compressor online condition monitoring and fault diagnosis hardware system are developed according to open, low-cost, reliable and efficient principle. The paper also describes in detail how to select sensor type and monitor position according to the character of running system and the faults generated. The vibration sensors and technologic process sensors is of premium properties. The data acquisition system consists of Yanhua computers and low-cost, excellent data acquisition cards based on ISA bus. The important parameters acquisition of the machine is realized by it. The software of the screw compressor online condition monitoring and fault diagnosis system is composed of Online Monitoring & Forecasting System, Signal Analysis, Processing System developed in java assembly language. This paper also discussed the structure and function. At last, the paper describes the production system that provides guarantee for the compressor. This system adopted Mitsubishi PLC.The project this paper presented has been putted into production in the October last year. To this day, the system has been run smoothly. The system technology level is first class in same industry. It has proved that the system improves the productivity and economy benefits for the company.
