As measuring angular displacement and angular velocity attitude sensor, gyroscopes play theindispensable role in the aerospace, aviation, navigation, weapons fields. Traditional rotor gyro,flexible gyro, optic gyro and emerging vibration gyro, micro mechanical gyro are hardly to widelyapplied in industrial production, vehicle safety, communications equipment and other areas, for thereason of the limitation of the cost and technology. So, the development of small, cheap and precisionappropriate new gyro is imminent. This paper puts forward a kind of new fluid gyro based on spiralflow tube, which is based on the principle of Coriolis force that makes the velocity of fluid in spiralflow tube change; the change of speed will result in output of the flow changing in a certain time. Bymonitoring the change about the flow of fluid could get the input of angular velocity signal. The maincontents of research in the paper are as follows:(1) According to the hydro-mechanical theory, the kinematic model of fluid in spiral flow tube isestablished; the relationship between Coriolis force and flow rate of fluid is illustrated. Meanwhile,the general structure of this new fluid gyro based on spiral flow tube is designed.(2) The dynamic characteristics of the piezoelectric vibrator, which is the key driving unit in thegyro, are researched. The component, working principles and Vibration influence factors, are analyzed.The construction of the piezoelectric vibrator experiment under load situation is made, and the data ofnatural frequency and amplitude are obtained.(3) Dynamic grid model of the gyro based on spiral flow tube is built using finite elementsoftware, Fluent. The influence on the fluid in gyro during the working of piezoelectric vibrator in acycle is researched. The perspective of simulation could verify the proposed structure has thegyroscopic effect.(4) A prototype of the new fluid gyro based on spiral flow tube is Designed and developed. Theeffects of driving frequency, voltage, spiral type and angular velocity on the performance of gyro arestudied through experiments. The tested formulas interrelated of the gyro is found based on theexperiments data.
